Thank you to everyone who joined us for our March Houndslake Neighborhood Association General Meeting. It was a great evening with a strong turnout, good conversation, and a lot of positive momentum for our neighborhood.

We were fortunate to have two outstanding guest speakers.

Captain Key from the Aiken Department of Public Safety spoke about the importance of neighborhood crime watch programs and shared practical advice on how to avoid scams. His presentation was a great first step as we begin organizing a neighborhood watch program here in Houndslake.

We also heard from Captain Michael Good with the Salvation Army, who spoke about the Robert and Pam Johnston gift matching challenge and the impact those contributions have in supporting members of our community in need. We appreciate him taking the time to join us and encourage everyone to support their efforts when possible.

Following our guest speakers, we shared updates on several HNA projects.

One of the highlights this year has been the landscaping improvement at the entrance on the corner of the bypass and Houndslake Drive. The addition of fresh zoysia sod, new topsoil, and improved mulch beds has made a noticeable difference and created a much more welcoming entrance into the neighborhood.

We also provided an update on the repair of the second bridge connecting Houndslake and Houndslake North. This continues to be a top priority for many residents. While we have selected a contractor, progress is currently dependent on a stretch of dry weather so work can begin safely in the stream area.

Another important initiative underway is the formation of a Houndslake neighborhood watch. More details on this will follow in the months ahead. We are in the early stages, beginning with the installation of neighborhood watch signs and building a network of volunteers. If you are interested in participating, we encourage you to reach out through the contact us section of the site above

We wrapped up the evening with our membership raffle. This year, we introduced a new format featuring three gift baskets for our donors, along with additional items generously donated by local businesses. We are grateful for the strong support from both our residents and the local business community.

Here are this years winners!
